Petite refers to height, not weight, and is definitely
not an age or a state of mind! Clothes proportioned for the petite
woman (usually defined as a height of 5' 4" and under) fit correctly
and do not require major, expensive alterations (often no alterations
are required). Pockets are in the right spot, collars are correctly
sized, the waist falls where it should, the rise in pants is properly
proportioned, etc. Most items are sized 2 to 12. Some manufacturers
also offer size 0 and/or 14. You'll simply look and feel better
in fashions that fit.
